Abstract
The study examines the petroleum laws, regulations, and sustainable development
in Nigeria, Norway, and Saudi Arabia. It analyses the different perspectives of the
oil and gas industries in these countries, and the impact of their laws, policies, and
regulations on sustainable development. The study adopts a doctrinal legal
research methodology through which it compares and analyses petroleum laws,
policies and regulations in Nigeria, Norway, and Saudi Arabia to promote
sustainable development in the sector. The research identifies critical similarities
and differences in each country's approaches and strategies, highlighting the
challenges and successes they have encountered. The findings provide valuable
insights into the effectiveness of each nation's laws and regulations in promoting
sustainability in the oil and gas sector. To contribute to knowledge, the study
designs a hybrid model for enhancing petroleum industry activities. In conclusion,
the study aims to contribute to the ongoing discussion on sustainable development
in the petroleum industry and provide recommendations for future policy and
regulation to promote sustainable development and improvements in these
countries' oil industries.
